Help your saree retain its beauty
Care requirements can vary by fibre, zari and construction. Always follow any product-specific instructions first.
Storage
- Store the saree in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Use a breathable cotton or muslin cover rather than long-term plastic storage.
- Refold the saree periodically so permanent creases do not form along the same lines.
- Keep heavy embellishment and zari protected from rubbing against rough surfaces.
Cleaning
- For silk, zari-rich or delicate handloom sarees, use a trusted professional dry cleaner.
- Avoid bleach, harsh detergents and wringing.
- Attend to stains promptly and tell the cleaner exactly what caused the stain.
Ironing
- Use a low to medium temperature appropriate for the fabric.
- Iron from the reverse side or place a clean cotton cloth between the iron and the saree.
- Avoid direct high heat on zari, embellishment and decorative borders.
